QuixiCloud Windows Application Privacy Policy
Last Updated: July 10, 2026
Effective Date: May 1, 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy applies specifically to the QuixiCloud Windows Desktop Application (the "Application"). It explains what information the Application accesses locally on your computer, how that information is processed, and how QuixiCloud protects your data. For comprehensive information regarding how QuixiCloud handles your data globally, please refer to our main Privacy Policy.
2. Scope
This policy applies to the desktop-specific functionalities of the Application, including:
- File synchronization (both manual and automated)
- Background synchronization
- File uploads and downloads
- WebDAV integration
- Local file indexing
- Future software updates released through our official channels
3. Information We Process
To provide a seamless synchronization experience, the Application may process the following data points locally and during transmission:
Account Information:
- Email address
- Account ID
- Authentication tokens
- Subscription status and quota
Device Information:
- Windows operating system version
- Application version
- Anonymous device identifier (generated specifically by the Application for session management)
- Crash logs (only if explicitly enabled by the user in settings)
File Metadata: To synchronize files efficiently without wasting bandwidth, the Application must temporarily process metadata, including:
- File names and folder structures
- File sizes
- Last modified dates
- File checksums (hashes)
- Synchronization statuses (e.g., pending, completed, errored)
This metadata is strictly utilized to provide the core synchronization and storage services. We do not use this data for advertising or behavioral profiling.
4. Local Data Storage
To operate without constant reliance on network connectivity, the Windows Application stores limited operational information locally on your hard drive, including:
- A local SQLite synchronization database
- File thumbnails and temporary caches
- Application configuration settings
- Upload and download queues
- Temporary encrypted files (generated during the upload/download process)
- Secure authentication session tokens
This information remains on your local computer. It is automatically removed when you uninstall the Application and select the option to clear user data, except where the Windows operating system retains data according to its own system-level backup or shadow copy policies.
5. File Encryption
QuixiCloud’s core value is data security. Where supported by your configured storage policy, the Application handles encryption as follows:
- Client-Side Encryption: Files may be encrypted entirely on your local machine before transmission.
- Upload Replay Mode: The Application may utilize secure streaming encryption through QuixiCloud's infrastructure before storing encrypted data on disk.
- Key Architecture: Each encrypted file uses an independent, unique encryption key. These keys are protected using QuixiCloud’s master key management system.
- Storage Providers: Our underlying storage arrays receive and host strictly encrypted ciphertext data.
6. Secure Communication
All data traversing the internet between the Application and QuixiCloud infrastructure is secured using robust Transport Layer Security (TLS) connections. This includes:
- Account authentication
- File synchronization, uploads, and downloads
- WebDAV operations
- API requests and quota checks
7. Background Synchronization
To ensure your files are always backed up and up-to-date, the Application supports various sync methodologies:
- Automatic background synchronization
- Manual synchronization triggers
- Scheduled synchronization (where enabled)
- Automatic resuming of transfers following a network interruption
- Automatic startup and resume following a system restart (if enabled in settings)
8. Third-Party Services
We respect your privacy on your personal computer. The Windows Application does not include any advertising SDKs or third-party tracking libraries. If optional diagnostic services, such as anonymized crash reporting or analytics, are introduced in future versions, users will be explicitly informed through updates to this policy and provided with opt-out mechanisms.
9. Data Sharing
QuixiCloud does not sell or rent any personal information collected by the Windows Application. Information is shared strictly under the following conditions:
- To provide the core storage service (e.g., routing traffic through our CDNs).
- To comply with applicable laws, valid subpoenas, or court orders.
- To protect platform security and investigate abuse.
- With trusted, audited service providers strictly necessary to operate the infrastructure.
10. Security Measures
QuixiCloud protects your data utilizing a defense-in-depth strategy, including:
- TLS encryption in transit
- Encrypted storage at rest
- Strict authentication controls and access restrictions
- Comprehensive security logging and monitoring
- Dedicated disaster recovery procedures
Additional details are available in our overarching Security Policy.
11. User Responsibilities
Security on a desktop computer requires shared responsibility. Users are expected to:
- Protect their QuixiCloud login credentials.
- Keep their Windows operating system updated with the latest security patches.
- Keep the QuixiCloud Application updated to the latest version.
- Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on their QuixiCloud account where available.
- Maintain independent, isolated backups of highly critical files where appropriate.
12. Data Retention
Synchronization metadata is retained by QuixiCloud only for as long as is strictly necessary to provide the service. Account deletion and the lifecycle of stored files are governed comprehensively by the main Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.
13. User Rights
Depending on applicable laws (such as the GDPR or India's DPDPA), you possess specific rights regarding your personal data, including the right to request:
- Access to your data
- Correction of inaccurate records
- Complete deletion of your account
- Data portability
- Restriction of, or objection to, processing
Requests to exercise these rights may be submitted directly to our Privacy Officer.
14. Changes to this Policy
QuixiCloud may update this Windows Application Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect new features or security enhancements. Material changes will be prominently announced through our website, application update notes, or via email where appropriate.
