QuixiCloud Sync (Android) Privacy Policy
Last Updated: July 10, 2026
Effective Date: May 1, 2026
1. Introduction
This privacy policy applies specifically to the QuixiCloud Sync Android Application (the "App"). It explains how the App accesses, uses, stores, and protects information locally on your mobile device. This document is a technical addendum; for comprehensive information regarding how QuixiCloud handles your data globally, please review our main Privacy Policy.
2. Scope
This policy covers the mobile-specific functionalities of QuixiCloud Sync for Android, including:
- Background file synchronization
- Automated photo and video backup
- Document synchronization
- WebDAV-based communications (where applicable)
3. Permissions Used
To function properly, the App requests specific Android operating system permissions. We believe in total transparency regarding why these permissions are necessary:
- Storage / All Files Access:
- Why we need it: To detect files you have selected for synchronization, upload user-selected content, and maintain sync statuses.
- Privacy guarantee: QuixiCloud strictly does not access, scan, or upload files unrelated to your explicitly chosen backup folders or synchronization settings.
- Notifications:
- Why we need it: To display ongoing synchronization progress, alert you of upload successes or errors, and support long-running foreground synchronization services required by modern Android versions.
- Ignore Battery Optimizations:
- Why we need it: To drastically improve the reliability of background synchronization by preventing Android's aggressive power management from killing active upload streams.
- Privacy guarantee: You may decline this permission in your device settings, though background syncing may become significantly less reliable.
- Network Access:
- Why we need it: To upload and download your files, authenticate your credentials with QuixiCloud servers, and keep your account quota information synchronized.
4. Information Processed by the App
While running on your device, the App handles the following categories of information:
- Account Information: Securely hashed tokens used to keep you logged in.
- Device Information: Basic device identifiers (e.g., OS version, device model) necessary to manage your active sync sessions.
- File Metadata: File names, sizes, modification timestamps, and checksums. This metadata is strictly required to determine which files need to be synchronized to the cloud.
- Diagnostic Information: Crash logs and error reports needed to troubleshoot synchronization failures.
We explicitly guarantee that the App does not scan, process, or use any of your customer content or metadata for advertising, marketing, or behavioral profiling.
5. Local Storage
To operate efficiently and minimize mobile data usage, the App stores limited information locally on your device:
- A local SQLite synchronization database to track file states.
- Cached image thumbnails (if applicable) for faster gallery loading.
- Temporary encrypted cache files during active uploads/downloads.
- Application settings and preferences.
This local data is automatically removed from your device when the App is uninstalled or when you clear the App's data via Android settings (except where Android OS retains information as part of its own native device backup features).
6. Encryption
Security is integrated into the core of the Android App:
- Client-Side Encryption: Where supported and enabled, the App encrypts your files locally on the device before they are transmitted over the network.
- Transit: All communications between the App and QuixiCloud infrastructure utilize strong TLS encryption.
- At Rest: Stored files remain encrypted in the cloud according to your configured storage policy.
- Key Management: Encryption keys are managed by QuixiCloud's secure key management system as described in our broader Security Policy.
7. Background Synchronization
To keep your files up to date without requiring you to keep the App open, QuixiCloud Sync utilizes:
- Continuous Synchronization: Monitoring selected folders for changes.
- Foreground Services: Displaying a persistent notification while a sync is active, as required by Android OS rules.
- Resilience: Automatic retry mechanisms that safely pause uploads during temporary network interruptions (e.g., driving through a tunnel) and resume them when connectivity returns.
8. Third-Party Services
QuixiCloud minimizes the use of third-party SDKs to protect your privacy. The App may utilize:
- Payment Providers: Specifically the Google Play Billing API, if you upgrade your subscription via in-app purchases.
- Diagnostic Tools: Strictly anonymized crash reporting to help us fix bugs.
We do not integrate any third-party advertising, marketing, or tracking SDKs into the QuixiCloud Sync App.
9. Children's Privacy
Consistent with our Terms and Conditions, QuixiCloud services and this App are intended exclusively for users aged 18 or older. The App is not designed to, nor does it knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. User Rights
Your rights regarding the data processed by this App are governed by our main Privacy Policy. Please refer to that document to learn how to:
- Submit Data Access requests.
- Submit Correction or Deletion requests.
- Request Data Portability.
11. Updates to this Policy
We may update this Android App Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect new features, changes in Android OS permissions, or legal requirements. Significant changes will be communicated via in-app notifications or via the email address associated with your account.
